Evernote Shows Startups

So how do you make money if you are offering a product that has millions of users and only a small percentage pay for it?
‘The easiest way to get a million people to pay for nonscarcity product may be to make 100 million people fall in love with it.’

That’s the so-called Freemium model that many companies have bet on only to find it doesn’t turn into a pile of gold immediately.

But the answer, according to Phil Libin, the CEO of Evernote, is that the money will come if you focus on just keeping your millions of users happy, regardless of whether they pay or not.

Libin’s advice and impressive slides were welcomed by a roomful of budding entrepreneurs at The Founder Conference in Mountain View, California Tuesday.

“The easiest way to get a million people to pay for nonscarcity product may be to make 100 million people fall in love with it,” Libin said, calling his users his marketing team.

National Average Gas Prices Rocket Toward $4 Per Gallon

NEW YORK -- With four weeks to go until the unofficial start of summer, and two months to the July Fourth holiday, many U.S. residents are planning their family vacations. However, this year they may not be going as far as they would like -- and gas prices may be too blame.

Just this past weekend gas prices ticked up 3 cents, and that has some predicting prices per gallon will hit the $4 mark at every station across the country this week, as CNNMoney reported. Gas currently averages more than $4 per gallon in 13 states and Washington, D.C.

"We're going to hit $4 this week, nationally," said Tom Kloza, chief analyst at the Oil Price Information Service. "There's momentum to take us there."

Gas prices continued their 45-day streak today, May 3, when the national average price for a gallon of regular gas hit $3.967, according to AAA. That is up from $3.952 on Monday and $3.943 on Sunday. Wyoming has the lowest price per gallon at $3.614. One year ago, the national average for a gallon of regular gas cost a motorist $2.895.

How to Make Your PC as Fast

One of the most frustrating things in life is a slow computer.

Every few years, we buy an expensive new PC and love how fast it starts up, runs programs, and loads websites.  Inevitably though, it starts to slow down until eventually we are pulling our hair out waiting for it to do routine tasks.

Why is this?  It turns out the answer is actually quite simple and you don't even need to be "technical" to understand the causes and solutions.

The good news: It's not the computer hardware that's the problem.  In most cases, the hardware you have is perfectly capable of being restored to its original glory and kept in fast running condition with minimal effort.

Rather, the problem lies with changes that occur to the PC's software.  The two most common causes of slowdown (along with easy solutions) are:

Pros and Cons of Investing in Canada

Canada is considered to be one of the safest places to invest in the world. The Canadian landscape is rich in resources, the financial sector is fundamentally sound and our commodity-backed currency is one of the strongest among developed markets.

The Canadian stock market has been handily out-performing other indexes around the globe, with the TSX Composite Index averaging 15 percent growth per year over the past 20 years.

As safe and promising as the Canadian economy appears, there are also plenty of risks for investors. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of investing in Canada.

Who gets bin Laden's $25 million bounty ?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The photograph of Osama bin Laden on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorists list has a new caption: Deceased.

But it was unclear Monday how much, if any, of the up to $25 million in reward money offered on the terrorist leader has been granted.
The man behind the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history was killed Sunday by American forces in Pakistan, in what President Barack Obama called "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al Qaeda."

In the 10 years since the 9/11 attacks, the CIA, the FBI and other intelligence agencies have worked to locate bin Laden, who was found living in a compound outside of Islamabad.

The use of reward money has become an important asset in the government's fight against global terrorism.
